Stewardship of Alberta’s Parks
Engaging more Albertans in the parks community is the right thing to do. How better to foster and celebrate the connection to the natural world and the wise use of Alberta’s Parks. Stewardship is a value; people will care for what they value.
Our stewardship values guide us in providing treasured visitor experiences while maintaining park ecological integrity. The future holds great potential, and the public want to be involved. Our messages clearly reflect opportunities for healthy lifestyles, environmental learning and shared responsibility:
- Parks and protected areas contribute to a healthy and sustainable environment, upon which our quality of life and future depend.
- At many parks and protected areas, visitors experience and learn about the province’s natural and cultural features and participate in a broad range of outdoor recreation activities.
- Stewardship of Alberta’s parks and protected areas is everyone’s responsibility. We see that responsibility being framed as an opportunity and a privilege. Alberta Parks require our care; to keep the air, water and habitat viable so that parks remain places for people to renew themselves in body, mind and spirit.
